Williamsburg, Kentucky - Tombstone Junction - Closed

I took my family to Cumberland Falls, and we drove on across the bridge to Tombstone Junction. My parents took me there when I was 8 years old I am now 39. we walked in to the old town site and there are a few buildings left the old barn that look like a store inside. There is the old fun house that has the slanted floor -- the kids got a kick out of that -- and a small shed and some type of block building that looks like a storm shelter. I can't believe that someone hasn't rebuilt that place. Oh yeah -- the train and tracks are gone. [Jason Blanton, 10/24/2007]

Williamsburg, Kentucky - Tombstone Junction - Vague Recollections

Tombstone Junction was an amusement park just outside Cumberland Falls. It burned down in 1989. The sign remained for many years. The only thing that remains today is the vertical posts which used to hold the sign, the driveway, and the parking lot. There is a chain going across the entrance, but you can walk around it.

I have not had the chance to do it yet, but many students at nearby University of the Cumberlands park at both Cumberland Falls and Tombstone Junction, then hike from one site to the other.

You can see the area in satellite pictures, and there appears to be several buildings remaining. [Clark Embree, 03/09/2007]

This was a theme park that was located close to Cumberland Falls State Park close to Williamsburg KY. It was set to an old west theme. Had a saloon that had country performers such as Conway Twitty. [Neil Johns, 01/26/2002]

Conway Twitty enjoyed soup beans with McCreary County family

The late Maggie Bryant and her son, the late Roy Bryant, went to enjoy a show by Conway Twitty at Tombstone Junction. Maggie always went backstage to meet the stars. While talking to Conway, ‘Mamo’ told him she was going home to eat soup beans. Conway responed by noting it had been a long time since he had had any beans. Maggie invited him to come on down. About an hour later a giant bus pulled up in front of Mamo’s house. Out walked Conway. “Miss Maggie, I came for your beans and cornbread,” he stated. After eating they took lots of pictures. Conway gave Mamo a big hug, got back on the bus and left Roy with a smile on his face for a week. (Pictures submitted by Chris Wilson. Photos courtesy of Opha Gilreath
